A member of the Miccosukee Tribe of
Florida will remain in jail pending his trial for DUI manslaughter, a judge said on Thursday.
Thomas D. Cypress, 54, is charged with the February 19 deaths of a Maryland couple. His blood alcohol level was 0.249, or three times the legal limit.
Cypress is the brother of Miccosukee Chairman Billy Cypress. The accident occurred on a stretch of the Tamiami Trail outside of reservation borders.
