A teenager from Ohkay Owingeh was arrested in connection with the murder of a Northern Arapaho man, The Santa Fe New Mexican reports.
Carl Romero, who is either 18 or 19, reportedly admitted that he shot Naayaitch Friday, who was 26, on April 11. Friday's body was found on San Ildefonso Pueblo.
The incident occurred after a night of drinking ended up in an argument about drugs and money, according to a court document cited by the newspaper. Romero, Friday and others visited two tribal casinos and three reservations in northern New Mexico before the shooting.
Romero and Friday did not know each other prior to the incident. Romero and some of his friends reportedly belong to a gang.
Friday was previously reported to be from the Jicarilla Apache Nation but he was Arapaho from Wyoming. He was a father of four.
