The Alaska Federation of Natives will host its 2010 convention in Fairbanks.
The board of directors voted 18-9 to return to the city next year. The meeting was held in Fairbanks in 2005 and 2007.
AFN historically has been held in Anchorage, whose leaders have tried to address concerns that the city hasn't been welcoming to Alaska Natives. Fairbanks has lobbied aggressively for the conference.
