Rosebud woman wins national 'visionary' award
Tillie Black Bear, a member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe of South Dakota, has been honored for her to work to address and prevent violence against women.

Black Bear, the executive director of White Buffalo Calf Woman Society, received the 2009 Visionary Voice Award from the National Sexual Violence Resource Center. She is the only tribal person recognized this year.

Black Bear is a founding mother of the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence and was the first Native Woman to chair the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
