Keweenaw Bay man sentenced for stealing trees
Robert C. Genschow, a member of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community of Michigan, was sentenced to 10 months in federal prison for stealing trees from his tribe.

Genschow, 60, arranged for the logging of a property known as the Ontonagon Reservation, according to federal prosecutors. Genschow claims to be a chief of the Ontonagon Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians.

But the Ontonagon Band agreed to reorganize and become part of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community, a federal judge said in a recent ruling. That means the Ontonagon Reservation is held in trust for the KBIC, the judge said.
