Cherokee Nation provides $12M for road work
The Cherokee Nation contributed $12 million to a major road project in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The tribe provided a right-of-way and funding to the $45 million project. The contribution will speed up work along a major interstate by two years, officials said.

"I would like for this to be an example for the rest of the state on working with the tribes," said David Stewart, chief executive officer of Cherokee Nation Entertainment, The Tulsa World reported.

The tribe operates a casino in the Tulsa area.
