Senate Indian Affairs Committee hearing postponed
The Senate Indian Affairs Committee has postponed tomorrow's oversight hearing but intends to proceed with a business meeting despite a major snowstorm in Washington, D.C.

The hearing on the fiscal year 2011 budget and Indian Country has been moved to Thursday, February 25. It will take place at 2:15 pm in Room 628 of the Senate Dirksen Office Building.

The committee vote on Lillian A. Sparks, a member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe of South Dakota, to be Commissioner of the Administration for Native Americans, remains on the schedule for tomorrow. The location of the meeting, however, has not been set.

Dozens of tribal leaders and Indian educators were expected in the nation's capitol this week for conferences hosted by the United Southern and Eastern Tribes and the National Indian Education Association. Both events started as usual although many attendees were unable to make it to DC.
