Catawba Nation leader challenges removal by tribal membership
The leader of the Catawba Nation of South Carolina says a vote to remove him from office is invalid.

Tribal members met in a general council on Saturday and voted 72-32 to remove Chief Donald Rodgers. They accused him of misusing tribal funds and abuse of his position.

But Rodgers and a majority of the tribe's executive committee say the action was not legal. Another meeting is planned to address the dispute.
