South Dakota school district reports big percentage of Natives
About 20 percent of the student body in Rapid City, South Dakota, is Native American.

The percent of Native students has remained about the same for the past three years. But their ranks are expected to grow significantly in the next decade.

"We flat out have to do a better job of educating those folks,” Jack Warner, the executive director of the South Dakota Board of Regents, told The Rapid City Journal.

Native Americans make up 8.4 percent of the state population.
