Iris Anderson, the mother of entrepreneur "Famous" Dave Anderson, died this morning.

Iris Anderson, a former Bureau of Indian Affairs employee, was a member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Lake Superior Band of Ojibwe Indians of Wisconsin. Her Ojibwe name was Niichiwaasanukwe, or Big Strong North Wind Lady.

Famous Dave, who ran the BIA between 2004 and 2005 during the Bush administration, credited his mother with teaching him how to cook. His parents ran Mom's Indian Fry Bread Stand, which served food at pow-wows across the nation.

Funeral services will take place this Thursday. Burial is scheduled for Friday.

Iris Anderson is survived by her husband, James Anderson, a member of the Choctaw Nation; two sons, David and Phillip; and a daughter, Rebecca St. Germaine.
