Delaware Nation to use solar energy for tribal headquarters

The Delaware Nation of Oklahoma plans to use solar energy to supply power at its tribal headquarters.

The tribe will install a 37.5-kilowatt solar array on the roof of the building. It will supply 30 percent of the electricity there.

“Green technology is the wave of the future and it certainly fits in with our culture,” said President Kerry Holton, The Oklahoman reported.

The tribe financed the project with a $250,000 stimulus grant, plus $250,000 of its own funds.
