Alvin Cobell & Family of Elouise C. Cobell
8747 Highway 89
Valvar, MT 59486-5264

Yaa'at'eeh Mr. Cobell:

It is with sadness that the Navajo Nation has learned of the passing of your beautiful and courageous wife, Elouise C. Cobell. Mrs. Cobell developed a wonderful relationship with the Navajo People and became a friend. It is our belief that the Creator made possible the birth of Mrs. Cobell to better this world--and she did. She helped the Indian People, including the Navajo People. She graced us with many visits to the Navajo Nation. She not only did good work in the State of Montana and her tribe, but had the energy to go forth to find the stamina and take the leadership to resolve federal mismanagement of trust funds which belonged to and meant for the benefit of the Native people. Navajo People saw the fruit of her work and will forever be grateful.

On behalf of the Navajo People, we as the Council of the Navajo Nation, express our sincere condolence to you and your family. May the Creator give you and your family comfort and strength through the coming days.

With Warmest Regards, the 22nd Navajo Nation Council
