The Native Mob is one of the most violent gangs in Indian Country, an expert in Indian gangs said.

The gang started in Minnesota in the 1990s. Its structure includes positions like "chief" and "co-chief" and they have laws and hold "council" meetings, The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.

"I consider Native Mob to be one of the most significant and problematic Native American-based gangs in the U.S.," expert Christopher Grant told the paper.

The Department of Justice announced indictments against 24 gang members for a slew of violent crimes, including drug trafficking, assault and attempted murder. Those arrested included members of the White Earth, Mille Lacs, and Leech Lake tribes.
