Brenda Golden: SPIRIT and NAACP discuss shared priorities

"The Oklahoma State Conference National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) joins the Society to Preserve Indigenous Rights and Indigenous Treaties (S.P.I.R.I.T.) in fighting for civil rights in Oklahoma.

On Saturday, January 28th, S.P.I.R.I.T. held a 2012 Planning Meeting at the City Arts Center with persons in attendance from the Tulsa, Peggs, Hominy, Ramona, Shawnee, Anadarko, Norman, Mid-Del, and Oklahoma City areas. Members of S.P.I.R.I.T represented Comanche, Muscogee (Creek), Choctaw, Chickasaw, Osage, Cheyenne, Kiowa, and Loyal Band Shawnee. Also represented at the S.P.I.R.I.T. meeting was Russell Patrick of the United Urban Warrior Society NE Oklahoma Chapter and Anthony Douglas, of the Oklahoma State Conference of the NAACP. The purpose of the meeting was to decide what issues and events that S.P.I.R.I.T. will make priority in 2012. "
