Luana Ross abruptly quits as leader of Salish Kootenai College

Salish Kootenai College in Montana is looking for a new president after the abrupt departure of Luana Ross on October 12.

Ross cited "irreconcilable" differences with the college's board, The Missoulian reported. She said she faced "significant hurdles" in taking over the job from Joe McDonald, who ran SKC for 32 years before Ross took over in 2010.

Elaine Frank, who had been serving as interim academic vice president, will serve as interim president, the paper said. It could take six to nine months to find a permanent leader.

The college is chartered by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes.
