The Seneca-Cayuga Tribe of Oklahoma remains mired in a dispute over an election that was held in June.

Alleged irregularities prompted the election committee to throw out the results of the vote. A new election was scheduled but various groups of tribal members went to court, resulting in a series of conflicting rulings that put a hold on the process.

Another election was scheduled for December 1 but it was also canceled. An appeal is pending with the Appellate Division of the Court of Indian Offenses.

The election was held to fill the second chief and secretary-treasurer posts, along with tribal committee seats.
