Two South Dakota tribes made more than $6 million in per capita payments to their members after reaching trust fund settlements with the federal government.

The Lower Brule Sioux Tribe received $18 million in the settlement. Of that amount, the tribe distributed $750 to about 3,800 members, The Mitchell Daily Republic reported.

The Crow Creek Sioux Tribe received $14.5 million. Of that amount, the tribe distributed $800 checks to about 4,000 members, the paper said.

The influx of cash led members of both tribes to a bank branch in Lower Brule and the crowd apparently caused the floor of the building to collapse on Tuesday. There were no reported injuries.
