A Tribe Called Red lands on shortlist for best album in Canada

A Tribe Called Red is one of 10 finalists for the Polaris Music Prize, an award that recognizes the best album in Canada.

The Native trio has exploded in popularity over the past year. The group's second release, Nation II Nation, has won critical acclaim in Canada and beyond.

"The fact we were long listed last year is still sinking in for us, so It's a real honour to be on a list that so few Canadian musicians have been before," the group said on its Facebook page.

The award comes with a $30,000 prize.
