Husband of former Cedarville Rancheria chair reveals threats

The husband of Cherie Lash Rhoades, the former chairwoman of the Cedarville Rancheria of California, said his wife made threats about shooting people.

Marvin Rhoades never believed his wife would take action on her threats. But authorities say she killed four people and injured two more at tribal headquarters on February 20.

“She said she would but I didn’t, I never believed it,” Rhoades told Fox 40 News.

Rhoades's daughter and grandson also heard the former chairwoman make threats about hurting others who had accused her of embezzling tribal funds.

“As I’m walking out, she’s still ranting and raving about blowing them away. I’m just like, ‘Oh my god, really?’” Brian Wall, Rhoades's grandson, told Fox 40. Wall is not the biological grandson of Cherie Lash Rhoades, who married Marvin in 1999, the station said.

Cherie Lash Rhoades has pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and attempted murder. She could face the death penalty if convicted.
