Women hold the majority of leadership positions within the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin, including the top four seats on the council.

Voters elected Cristina Danforth as chairperson in an election on Saturday. She currently serves as treasurer and has previously served as chair, vice chair and a council member.

For the vice chair spot, voters chose Melinda Danforth. Trish King was elected treasurer and Lisa Summers was elected secretary.

Two more women -- Jennifer Webster and Fawn Billie -- also won seats on the council, where terms run for three years. Three men -- Brandon Stevens, Tehassi Hill, Ben Vieau -- make up the rest of the body.
