Mohegan Tribe set to acquire team in National Lacrosse League

The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut is acquiring another professional sports team.

The announcement won't be coming until tomorrow but news reports said the tribe will be buying a franchise in the National Lacrosse League -- the Philadelphia Wings, accoring to some sources. The team would play at the Mohegan Sun Arena during the winter months.

The arena is home to the Connecticut Sun, which is part of the WNBA. The tribe was the first in Indian Country to own a professional basketball team.

Lacrosse was invented by tribes in the Haudenosaunee Confederacy.
