The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals will hear arguments tomorrow in a land claim filed by Jemez Pueblo in New Mexico.

The tribe claims ownership of land that is now a part of the Valles Caldera National Preserve. In a September 2013 decision, Judge Robert C. Brack acknowledged the tribe's aboriginal connection but said the lawsuit was filed too late.

The tribe should have filed a case with the Indian Claims Commission by 1951, Brack determined, even though Congress didn't create the preserve until 2000.

The hearing takes place at 9am tomorrow at the University of New Mexico School of Law. Turtle Talk has posted documents from the case, Jemez Pueblo v. US.
