Federal authorities are investigating a police officer involved shooting on the Spirit Lake Nation in North Dakota but details remain scarce.

Family and friends say they haven't been able to find out any information about the fatal shooting of Joe Charboneau, 31, last week. Even Chairwoman Myra Pearson said she hasn't been told anything.

"Seemed so out of character to the boy I've known all these years. Just totally out of character. It's not possible," uncle Henry Scott told The Grand Forks Herald.

Tribal police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are handling the case. The incident occurred Tuesday night.
