The Saginaw Chippewa Tribe of Michigan is investigating allegations of child abuse at its language immersion school.

A parent said her two-year-old girl was hurt at the Sasiwaans Immersion School and wasn't informed about the incident. A teacher also said she was suspended for trying to document alleged abuse.

"No one should be handling 2-year-olds, 3-year-olds, or 4-year-olds if they can't handle themselves," Adriana Anger, who has removed her girl from the school, told 9 and 10 News.

In a statement, the tribe said it wouldn't comment on its ongoing investigation.

"The safety and well-being of our tribal youth is our foremost concern and your leadership will make it a priority to ensure that this matter is dealt with appropriately," the tribe said.
