Bronson Koenig hosts basketball clinic for youth at Standing Rock

College basketball star Bronson Koenig, a member of the Ho-Chunk Nation, is heading to North Dakota to show solidarity with the #NoDAPL movement.

Koenig and his other brother, Miles, are bringing supplies to the #NoDAPL encampment, where thousands have united in resistance to the Dakota Access Pipeline. Their tribe, based in Wisconsin, has already supported the movement with donations that Ho-Chunk leaders brought to the historic gathering site last month.

While in North Dakota, Koenig will host a basketball clinic for youth of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. The clinic takes place Saturday afternoon at the Standing Rock High School, home of the Warriors, in Fort Yates.

Koenig is a point guard for the University of Wisconsin Badgers. Last year, he was the first Native American to start and play in a NCAA finals game, according to NDNSports.Com. He led the Badgers back to the finals this year but the team lost in the championship game.

Koenig is a senior at the University of Wisconsin. He is an outspoken advocate for Native youth and opposes the use of harmful stereotypes in sports.
