MAY 3, 2000 Indian title to land in Oklahoma is being lost to non-Indian owners and members of the Five Civilized Tribes want legislation introduced in Congress to prevent future occurences. The Cherokee, Creek, Choctaw, Chickasaw, and the Seminole Nations are seeking reformation of laws regarding their allotted land. Other tribes in Oklahoma and the US would not be affected by the legislation, said a Cherokee Nation representative. Get the Story:
