JULY 24, 2000 Citing opposition by Pennsylvania Governor Gary Ridge, the Seneca Nation of New York won't pursue a Class III casino in his state. The tribe had sent the governor a letter to learn of his interest and seek state approval to buy land. But his adminstration said there is no reason or obligation to negotiate a compact with the tribe, which would be required to operate a Class III facility. Get the Story:
