MONDAY, AUGUST 13, 2001 Secretary of Interior Gale Norton addressed the opening session of the Western Governors’ Association summer conference on Sunday. In her speech, she promised to work closely with states on land use and environmental issues. Along with Secretary of Agriculture Ann Veneman, Norton is to sign a long-term fire management agreement with the association. The conference is being held in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, this week.
