Drinking in public can't get you arrested in Nebraska even though it is a violation of liquor laws.

That's the message the group Nebraskans for Peace sent in a protest yesterday at the State Capitol. Three members drank beer while law enforcement authorities, camera crews and the public watched.

Drinking in public also occurs at Whiteclay, a remote town which caters largely to Native Americans, but no on is punished, the group charges.

Whiteclay is located near the South Dakota border by the Pine Ridge Reservation.
