FRIDAY, MAY 16, 2003 The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut will lay off 30 employees and transfer 225 more as part of a "right-sizing" of the tribal government operations, The New London Day reports. John Guevremont, the tribe's new chief operating officer, said the goal is to streamline operations. He said some of the functions are already served by the tribe's casino, where the 225 employees will move. Guevremont also said there are tribal government programs that are no longer needed.
