Caleb Johnson was elected vice-chairman of the Hopi Tribe of Arizona on Wednesday by 68 votes.

Johnson said he was surprised he won. He expected low turnout it was only 23 percent -- would favor challenger Mary Felter, who was vying to be the tribe's first woman vice-chair.
