Editorial: Secret deal with Pequot Tribe

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2001 In an editorial today, The Norwich Bulletin says it has filed a state freedom of information act complaint with a local development corporation over a "secret" lease with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. "The public has every right to see this lease -- and now," writes the paper. Norwich Community Development Corp. has signed a lease with the tribe on an office and retail complex in downtown Norwich. The tribe is agreeing to house some of its employees there and is going to find tenants for the space. Since more than $6 million in taxpayer funds have been dedicated to the project, the paper says the public needs to see the lease. Get the Story:
