Tribes plan to challenge mine plan

The Fort Belknap Tribes of Montana are challenging a plan to cleanup a mine near their reservation.

The exact means of the challenge haven't been decided yet. It could come in the form of a lawsuit in state court or administrative appeals through the Department of Interior.

The tribe has a lawsuit pending in federal court and another in state court that is on hold.

The Assiniboine and Gros Ventre tribe reside on the reservation.
