MONDAY, MARCH 18, 2002 Ramy Brooks will take home a $55,000 check for placing second in the 2002 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. He finished the race in 9 days, 49 minutes and 18 seconds. But for the Yupi'k and Athabaskan runner, his biggest win was being named Citizen of the Year by Doyon Ltd., an Alaska Native corporation. He credits his elders and family, which has a long mushing tradition, with his success. Get the Story:
