Small protest against reservation hog farm

The former mayor of Rapid City, South Dakota, and a tribal elder held a small protest against a hog farm on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation.

Former mayor Jerry Munson said the plant is hurting the environment and threatening the health of reservation residents. He wants the federal government to oppose the farm.

The farm has been controversial within the tribe, with one tribal council supporting it then a subsequent one opposing it. President Charles Colombe has proposed a compromise to allow Sun Prairie to keep operating the farm with a promise not to expand.
