Lumbee beauty queen files lawsuit over Miss World

Rebekah Revels, the Lumbee beauty queen who tussled with the Miss America pageant has filed a lawsuit related to her appearance at the Miss World pageant.

Revels claims a man promised to schedule public appearances, allow her a $3,000 clothing allowance and pay her $15,000 for going to the Miss World contest in London in 2002. She is suing to recover the money plus damages. The Miss World pageant itself is not involved.

In 2002, Revels won the Miss North Carolina title but was forced to step down after an ex-boyfriend claimed he had topless pictures of her. She was eventually forced out of the Miss America pageant.

Revels later won an $11,000 judgment against her ex-boyfriend, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokees.
