Abramoff Scandal
Rep. Hayworth says he only met Abramoff twice

Rep. J.D. Hayworth (R-Arizona), the co-chair of the Congressional Native American Caucus, says he's only met Jack Abramoff "socially I think twice."

"He has never come to my office," Hayworth told The Washington Post.

But Hayworth went to Abramoff's luxury sports arena suite in Washington. He held a total of five fundraisers there and he accepted $2,250 from Abramoff.

Hayworth later paid $12,800 to the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians and the Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana, both Abramoff clients, for using the arena skyboxes.

Hayworth is facing re-election. His Democrat challenger is Harry Mitchell.
