Lawsuit blasts Navajo water documentary on PBS

A lawsuit filed in New Mexico state court accuses PBS of "propaganda" for airing a documentary about the hardships faced by Navajo water users.

Attorney Victor Marshall, who represents the San Juan Agricultural Water Users Association, says PBS affiliate KNME aired the documentary to pressure the public into supporting a water rights deal with the Navajo Nation. The San Juan group would be affected by the settlement.

Marshall wants KNME, the state and other parties to turn over documents about the film, which was paid for in part by the Navajo Nation, the State Engineer’s Office and the city of Gallup.
