Witness in Aquash murder case seeks immunity at trial
A witness in the trial of a man accused of murdering American Indian Movement activist Anna Mae Pictou Aquash wants immunity before testifying.

Without immunity, Theda Clarke plans to assert her Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination, her attorney said. She will refuse to answer questions about AIM or the people who have been charged with Aquash's murder, according to the attorney.

Federal prosecutors had Clarke on their witness list but it wasn't clear if she will be called. The prosecution rested today, the Associated Press reported.

Richard Marshall, a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, is on trial for aiding and abetting Aquash's murder. Prosecutors say he supplied the gun used to kill Aquash.
