Neb. gaming opponents wait for court date

An anti-gaming group in Nebraska is challenging a voter initiative that could pave the way for tribes to open casinos on their lands.

Gambling with the Good Life, a group of 150 businesses, church and civics groups, says the initiative was filed improperly. A court date is set for August 29.

The initiative would allow video slot machines in bars, restaurants, race tracks and keno parlors. Tribes would be able to offer similar games, according to a state attorney general's opinion.
