R.I. tribe opposes casino vote recommendation
FRIDAY, APRIL 4, 2003
The Narragansett Tribe of Rhode Island opposes a recommended vote on gaming in the state, chief sachem Matthew Thomas said.
A special committee said voters should decide whether or not they want a casino to go to the "highest, responsible bidder." But Thomas said this goes against existing law and procedure because voters won't know who will get the casino.
