Poll: Agua Caliente initiative trails card clubs

printer friendly
A new poll shows support for the Agua Caliente Band's casino initiative trailing a rival initiative to allow slot machines at card clubs and racetracks.

According to the Field Poll, 53 percent of voters support the tribe's plan while 57 percent support the card club initiative. Both will be on the ballot this November.

The tribe's proposal calls for willing tribes to share 8.84 percent of net income with the state. In exchange, they would get to operate unlimited slot machines under a 99-year compact.

The rival initiativeforces at 25 percent revenue-sharing rate on slot machine proceeds at all casinos. If any tribe refuses, or the Bureau of Indian Affairs rejects the agreement, the card clubs and racetracks would be allowed to operate slots.
