Out-of-state tribe rumored to want Idaho casino

printer friendly
Rumors of an out-of-state tribe wanting a casino in Idaho have surfaced again.

A representative of some tribe reportedly met with Oneida County commissioners in southeastern Idaho on the Utah border. But nobody seems to know which tribe is interested.

Republican lawmakers, who have tried unsuccessfully to stop in-state tribes from gaming, used the rumors to push through an official state challenge to the tribes' successful gaming initiative. The tribes won 58 percent voter support two years ago for their initiative.
