New gaming deals about to be signed by California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) haven't discouraged the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians.
The tribe is moving forward with its campaign, said chairman Richard Milanovich. If approved, willing tribes would share 8.84 percent of revenues with the state in exchange for unlimited gaming under 99-year compacts.
Schwarzenegger said he would campaign against the initiative and a rival one offered by non-Indian gaming interests. He is nearing a deal with four to five tribes to generate $1 billion for the state plus additional casino revenues.
