Judge allows Coyote Valley Pomo casino to reopen

printer friendly
The Coyote Valley Band of Pomo Indians reopened its casino after a federal judge put a temporary restraining order on the National Indian Gaming Commission.

NIGC issued a Notice of Violation and Closure Order against the casino because the tribe lacked a valid state-tribal compact.

The tribe says it is negotiating for a new compact and could be among the first to sign an agreement with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R).

The judge will hold a hearing Thursday to decide whether the casino can remain open permanently. The tribe's 240 employees have returned to work.
