State demands for cut of gaming revenues grow

printer friendly
More and more states across the nation are demanding a bigger share of gaming revenues, The New York Times reports.

Gaming has become a big part of the picture in Rhode Island, South Dakota, Louisiana, Oregon, Iowa, Delaware, Mississippi and other states. It has contributed to a drop in property taxes in South Dakota and Delaware, and has prevented increases in income taxes in Rhode Island

The Times does not examine how much tribes have contributed to state budgets or discuss states that are seeking more revenues from tribal casinos.
