Racetracks blame tribes for loss of revenues

printer friendly
Representatives of the non-Indian horse racing industry are blaming tribes for a loss in revenues.

The Fair Meadows racetrack and the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association are supposed to receive a share of tribal gaming revenues under the tribal-state compact. But they say they are losing money because tribes haven't installed the casino machines that were legalized by the compact.

Tribes have been slow to install the compacted machines but their revenues have increased in the past year due to an expansion of their facilities and the addition of Class III card games.
