Forest County Potawatomi Tribe plans expansion

printer friendly
The Forest County Potawatomi Tribe says it will expand its Milwaukee casino if the state Supreme Court upholds the legality of the tribal-state gaming compact.

The tribe filed a rezoning application with the city, outlining the $240 million expansion of the Menomonee Valley casino. The tribe plans to increase the size of the facility to 275,000 square-feet, an increase of 500,000 square-feet.

The expansion will make room for 3,000 slot machines, nearly double the amount currently in play, and for 100 gaming tables, up from 75 tables. More restaurants and parking are also in the works.

The tribe is proceeding with the plans but also would like to relocate the casino to downtown Milwaukee. But everything is contingent on the court's decision on the legality of certain Class III games. A hearing will be held September 7.
