Narragansett Tribe's gaming partner weighs options

printer friendly
Harrah's Entertainment, the Narragansett Tribe's gaming partner, is examining its options in the wake of another court ruling that struck down a tribal casino proposal.

Jan Jones, a Harrah's executive who has been promoting the casino, says the company isn't ready to give up the battle just yet. But Jones said some clarification from the state Supreme Court is needed.

The court's advisory opinion said the proposed casino would violate the state constitution because it wouldn't be operated by the state. The decision may force lawmakers to allow competitive bidding for a casino.
