Iowa Tribe eyes rural location for casino

The Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska is eyeing a rural location in Marion County, Kansas, for a casino.

The tribe initially proposed a casino outside of Wichita. But the plan unraveled when Sedgwick County commissioners failed to authorize a voter referendum for the project.

That's when the Marion County Commission decided to step in. The commission authorized a mail-in referendum to consider a 300-room resort.
